Lucy Steed

Chief Executive Officer

Lucy co-founded Melior and is the Chief Executive Officer. Lucy has 20 years experience working at leading fund managers, investment banks and management consulting firms in Sydney, London and New York. Prior to setting up her own consulting company, Lucy was Head of Managed Accounts and Managed Funds at BT Financial Group where she worked from 2013-2016. Prior to this Lucy worked at AMP Capital from 2006-2013 in various roles including Head of Business Transformation, Head of Australian Product Development and Investment Specialist.

Lucy is a Graduate of Australian Institute of Company Directors and is on the Foundation Board of St Catherine’s School. Lucy received a Master of Commerce (Finance and Banking) and a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting and Marketing) from the University of Sydney.

Tim King

Tim King, CFA

Chief Investment Officer

Tim co-founded Melior and is the Chief Investment Officer (CIO). He has worked in capital markets for more than 25 years and has over a decade of experience in ESG research. Tim was Head of Company & ESG Research for Colonial First State Global Asset Management’s Australian Equities Core Fund from 2016 to 2018. Prior to this he was Head of Advisory for governance research firm Regnan and Head of Company & ESG Research for Deutsche Bank from 2003 -2013. He was also a top 3 rated sell side analyst.

Tim has served on the boards of The Gold Standard Foundation, based in Geneva, and Fauna and Flora International (FFI), the world’s oldest international conservation organisation. Tim is a Chartered Financial Analyst. He has received an Advanced Certificate in International Economics and Finance from the Kiel Institute of World Economics in Germany and attended the University of Rochester in New York on a Fulbright Scholarship. Tim has both a Master of Arts with First Class Honours (Economics) and a Bachelor of Arts (Economics) from the University of Canterbury, New Zealand. Tim is an Industry Fellow at the University of Technology Business School.

Nina Wilkinson, CFA

Portfolio Manager

Nina is a Portfolio Manager at Melior. Nina has 10 years experience as a portfolio manager, assistant portfolio manager and equity analyst working on both the buy and sell side in Sydney and London. Nina previously worked at Credit Suisse London as a HOLT equity analyst from 2016-2019 covering the European technology, media and telecom sectors as well as small cap stocks. Prior to this Nina worked in the multi-asset class discretionary portfolio management team at Credit Suisse Private Bank in Sydney from 2012-2016.

Nina is a CFA charterholder. Nina received a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting and Finance) and Bachelor of Arts (German and French) from the University of Sydney.

Carlos Castillo

Deputy PM/ Senior Investment Analyst

Carlos Castillo is a Senior Investment Analyst at Melior. He has 19 years experience in financial markets. Carlos was most recently at Ellerston Capital where he was part of a six person team managing around $3b in Australian equities. He previously worked as a portfolio manager at AMP Capital where he was part of a 10 person team managing more than $12b in Australian equities. Carlos’ ESG experience includes time at AMP Capital helping to manage the Australian Equities Sustainable fund and a corporate strategy and sustainability role at CSR Ltd. Carlos has covered a wide range of sectors over the course of his analyst career including industrials, consumer discretionary, financials, healthcare, consumer staples and utilities. Carlos began his investment career on the sell side covering financials.

Carlos received a Bachelor of Commerce (Finance and Business Economics) and a Master of Commerce (Business Strategy) from the University of New South Wales.

Julia Bailey

Julia Bailey

Head of Advocacy Strategy/ Senior Analyst

Julia Bailey is Head of Advocacy Strategy and a Senior Research Analyst at Melior. She has 17 years’ experience working as both a sell and buy side analyst across a number of sectors at global investment banks and leading fund managers in the UK and Australia. Julia began her career as a European pharmaceutical equity analyst working for Lehman Brothers in London from 2003-2006 before heading to Sydney where she worked in the Australasian Healthcare team at Citi from 2006-2011. She then moved into funds management at Perpetual from 2012-2016 where her coverage included the consumer and energy sectors. Prior to joining Melior, she worked as a consultant across a range of industries.

Julia received a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences (1st Class Honours) with specialisation in Parasitology from King’s College London.

Vanessa Kokkinakis

Vanessa Kokkinakis, CFA

Head of Operations

Vanessa is the Investment Operations Manager at Melior. Vanessa has 6 years experience in operations at both Magellan Asset Management and White Outsourcing (now Link Fund Solutions).

Vanessa received a Bachelor of Business from the University of Technology, majoring in Extended Finance and sub-majoring in Japanese Language and Culture. Vanessa is a CFA charterholder.

Simon Binney

Business Development Analyst

Simon is a Business Development Analyst at Melior. He has 5 years’ experience across client service, distribution and product with Fund Managers in Sydney. Simon previously worked at Pendal Group as a Product Manager and Perennial Value Management as an Investment Specialist Associate and Client Services Associate. Simon has a Bachelor of Business Analysis - Economics from the University of Waikato, New Zealand.

Abi High, CFA

Associate Analyst

Abi High is an Analyst at Melior. Abi was previously an Investment Manager at Sarasin & Partners LLP in London from 2016 – 2021, managing discretionary multi-asset portfolios for US and UK clients. She was also part of the analyst team for the Digital Opportunities Fund, covering global mid-cap technology stocks. Prior to this Abi worked at Equity Gap, a Scottish Angel investment group, Goldman Sachs and Aberdeen Asset Management (before graduating).

Abi received an MA Honours degree in Business and Accounting from the University of Edinburgh. She is a CFA charterholder and achieved distinction grade for the CISI Private Client Investment Advice and Management certificate (PCIAM, UK).

Jane Fulton

Dr Jane Fulton

Jane is an industry expert on the Sustainable Development Goals, having worked for a decade at the United Nations (UN) in New York where she focused on meeting the UN Development Programme’s Water, Sanitation and Ocean Governance goals. Jane is currently a consultant to Energy Transition Advisors which focuses on sustainable solutions to global energy and was previously co- founder of the Sydney Peace Foundation which promotes public interest in peace, justice and universal human rights. Jane has a PhD from the University of Sydney Arts (Sociology/Anthropology) which examined conflict over natural resources and concepts of nature.
David Shelmerdine

David Shelmerdine

David is Chair of the Melior Advisory Council and is an industry expert on climate change, agricultural supply chains and sustainable development, food and land use systems. David is the Founding Director and Deputy Chair at ClimateWorks Australia which was established in 2006. He is also a Senior Advisor and Past President of the Gold Standard Foundation in Geneva. The Gold Standard Foundation focuses on accelerating progress toward the Paris Climate Agreement and the Sustainable Development Goals, through quantifying, certifying, and maximising the impact of a broad range of projects and programmes. David has been involved in several significant philanthropic initiatives including acting as Convenor of the Sustainability and the Environment Funding Program for the Sidney Myer Fund and The Myer Foundation. David holds a Bachelor of Agriculture (Hons) from Adelaide University.
Suzie Riddell

Suzie Riddell

Suzie is an industry leader in the social sector with extensive experience delivering impact for social causes such as education and employment. Suzie is CEO of Social Ventures Australia (SVA), a a not-for-profit organisation that works with partners to alleviate disadvantage in Australia through consulting, impact investing, philanthropy and advocacy. Prior to joining SVA, Suzie was a consultant at Bain & Company. Suzie holds a Bachelor of Accounting (University Medal, First Class Honours) from the University of Technology, Sydney and a Master of Philosophy (International Relations) from the University of Cambridge. She is a Non-Executive Director of The Observership Program, and formerly of YWCA NSW and Holdsworth Community Centre and Services. She was also a winner of AFR BOSS Magazine’s Young Executive of the Year 2017.
Rob Koczkar

Rob Koczkar

Rob has extensive experience in social impact and private equity investing. Rob is a Managing Director of Adamantem Capital, the parent company of Melior Investment Management and sits on the Melior Board.

Rob was involved in Australia’s largest social impact investment, the creation of Goodstart Early Learning in 2010, where he remains a non Executive director. He has since served as CEO of Social Ventures Australia which pioneered social impact investing including developing social impact bonds and social impact funds with the objective of ensuring everyone living in Australia can thrive.

Prior to this, Rob was a Managing Director of Pacific Equity Partners, a Principal with Texas Pacific Group and started his career with Bain & Company.

Rob received a BEng (Hons.) in Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering from the University of Melbourne. He currently serves on the boards of Goodstart Early Learning Limited, Hygain and Zenitas and was previously Chairman of Energy Developments Limited.

Armina Rosenberg

Armina is the global equities portfolio manager for Grok Ventures, a family office and investment firm focused on investing to help improve the world for a better tomorrow. Before joining Grok in 2017, Armina was Senior Investment Director at Audant Investments and prior to this worked at JP Morgan for 7 years in Australian equities research.

Armina brings a diverse and global perspective to the Advisory Council on industry trends, environmental thematics and social issues including gender equality and ethnic diversity.

Armina was awarded the Co-op Scholarship at the University of New South Wales where she completed her Bachelor of Commerce with Honours in Finance.

Anthony Kerwick

Anthony Kerwick

Anthony Kerwick is a Managing Director of Adamantem Capital, the parent company of Melior Investment Management and sits on the Melior Board.

He has extensive experience in private equity, company directorships and management consulting. Anthony was a Managing Director at Pacific Equity Partners (PEP) from 2004 to 2014, having joined PEP in 1999. Prior to this, he spent five years at Bain & Company as a global strategy consultant. Anthony is on the board of Hellers.

Anthony is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. He received a Bachelor of Commerce (Hons) and a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) from University of Queensland.
